The Skating Center Centro Pattinaggio is a key component of Parco San Giuliano in Venice, Italy. This structure, which serves as a rollerblade rental office, service center, and restroom facility, is composed of two circular drums with a grand canopy spanning the two and acting as a monumental gateway. Each of the drums is 475 s.f. with a 10’ tall wall of stucco and a 3’ clerestory level of glazing that permits light into the interior. The primary figural element of the structure is its roof, a 138’ long undulating steel and glass canopy.

The Center is surrounded by a large public plaza that connects to a 2,975’ paved roller-blading circuit. This plaza is designed with an exposed aggregate architectural concrete pattern. Included in the project are site furniture, a rest area, lighting, and landscaping. The Skating Center was completed in 2005 for $1.5 million.
