In the coming decades, American cities will show evidence of growing disparities in wealth; political rule by suburban majorities; a perpetual urban underclass; and newly formed edge cities. To remain competitive, cities must engage in global economic competition; develop effective long-range growth strategies; and offer attractive “packages” for residents and employers.

AD+A, Inc. prepared a report for the Dallas Morning News that offers a strategy for the city to succeed. The report identifies an equitable and dynamic growth model that consolidates a multi-polar city-region. The key initiatives needed by Dallas in order to achieve this urban maturity and join the list of global cities are: a new regional growth partnership; transportation infrastructure improvements; an aggressive strategy for city center transformation; and physical, economic and educational reinvestment in the southern sector of Dallas-Fort Worth.
