AD+A, Inc. designed a plan for the transformation and revitalization of Turtle Creek, a major but underutilized waterway in Dallas, Texas. The client, the Turtle Creek Association (TCA), sought to create a comprehensive “Signature Park” along the Creek. Focusing on a study area of 608 acres over 80 city blocks, the plan renovates Turtle Creek and refashions its shores into a premier urban park, providing a “necklace of green pearls.” AD+A, Inc. conducted site analyses to examine the key issues and provided a Master Plan for the study area. Recommendations were organized into six categories: land acquisition, waterway and floodplain, urban design, landscape and vegetation, the renovation of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Humphreys Theater and grounds, and parking restructuring. The implementation plan outlined development over seven years, phasing the strategic projects. This project requires a budget of $60 million.
