AD+A, Inc. was the lead urban designer of pedestrian and streetscape enhancements to 9th Street, a significant road in downtown Fort Worth, and the redesign of Hyde Park as a transit plaza. This project is a catalyst for the revitalization of the downtown and will link the recently developed nearby intermodal center to the historic Hyde Park Plaza. The plan proposes the total streetscape redesign of 9th Street into a lively urban pedestrian-oriented connector. As a consultant to Turner, Collie, & Branden, AD+A, Inc. provided several options for the redevelopment and densification of the edges of the street, proposing mixed-use development with ground level shopping and residential and commercial space at the upper levels. Hyde Park is also redesigned as a major bus transit hub and defined by three different but interconnected open spaces to be used for outdoor concerts and cultural activities. Estimated at $6.3 million, construction is to begin in 2007. |
