AD+A, Inc. provided master planning and architectural services for the design of the proposed Breast Cancer Institute of the Caribbean at a 103 acre parcel in Barrio El Cedro of Cayey Municipality in Puerto Rico.

The Institute has two components: a 30-bed therapy center that houses facilities of Radiology, Radiotherapy, Oncology, Pathology, and Surgery; and a group of 20 detached long-term care hospice units for terminal patients. These elements are arranged in an independent but complementary layout around an unifying central garden. The proposed 55,000 s.f. design provides an environment conducive to the pursuit of the institute’s mission while making the best and least disruptive use of the bucolic setting and stunning vistas of Cayey’s hills and vegetation. It includes outdoor amenities such as walking trails and pathways, gardens and courtyards, and a Helipad.
