The Nautical Center is a major development within Parco San Giuliano, Venice, Italy. AD+A, Inc. provided master planning and architectural services for this recreational and educational center that accommodates nine amateur nautical organizations and public boating facilities. The scheme calls for a series of modular boat sheds and maintenance centers along the water’s edge, a clubhouse, parking areas for 204 cars, a multi-purpose recreation center and tennis fields, a continuous waterfront promenade, and floating piers for the docking of 193 boats. This 1,500 ft boardwalk is adjacent to the restructured water’s edge along the Seno della Seppa, an environmentally sensitive area. The master plan envisions a development of a 20.3 acre site with the construction of 14 buildings for a total of 95,000 s.f.. The estimated construction cost is $22.2 million plus $6.5 million for environmental site clean-up. Construction will start in 2007.
